The botanical garden of the Lautaret (2058m) was created in the late 19 th century. It is located between Grenoble and Briancon at the Lautaret pass up the valleys of the Guisane (Hautes Alpes) and Romanche (Isère).
Visit the Alpine Garden Lautaret
Managed by the CNRS (French State Research), it hosts researchers and houses more than 200 botanical species mountain vegetal. Public access is possible at 6 euros. The tour is ideal in early summer and late spring. The place is cozy furnished. Allow at least one hour visit.
Magnificent view on the massif of the Meije which culminates at almost 4,000 meters. Plan to cover what is due to the altitude and the ever-present wind.
Do not hesitate to continue until the Grave despite the closure of the road to Grenoble because of the collapse of the tunnel Chambon!
