The summit, at only 2351 meters above sea level, offers a panoramic view of Lake Brienz, Interlaken but also on many northern faces of the Swiss Alps, more precisely on the Bernese Alps. A nice little train will avoid any muscular fatigue while a café restaurant will allow you to admire the panorama comfortably seated.
The train ride to Brienzer Rothorn
The climb lasts about an hour and will cost you 25 euros, family price possible and free for the little ones. A steam locomotive operates at certain times of the day, for the pleasure of nostalgic old mechanics. The rails of the cogwheel train snake in the forest then in the Alps, always facing south. Paragliding from Interlaken, home of paraglider builder Advance often dot the local sky, looking for cumulus capping thermal ascents. A cable car from the north side also reaches the summit. A beautiful terrace overlooking the landscape allows you to sit and enjoy a drink if you find a seat still available.
