Visit the chapel "Le Corbusier"

Chapelle notre dame du haut Le Corbusier

Climbing the 200-meter difference in altitude, from the village, allows a pleasant setting. The view from the top of the hill, almost 500 meters above sea level, gives a beautiful view in the direction of the Vosges mountains and the rich forests surrounding.

The site, full of history, was occupied by religious constructions from antiquity until the inclemency of the German artillery during the second world war destroyed the whole building.
The renowned architect Le Corbusier, a renowned architect specialized in collective housing, was chosen to build a chapel whose first stone was laid in 1954. The chapel, classified in 2016 by Unesco as a world heritage of humanity , attracts 30% more visitors since then; reaching more than 90,000 people per year.

The place encourages contemplation and meditation. The space offers the visitor the opportunity to get away from the crowd, if you want. The chapel, fresh in the interior and dark, allows to penetrate, through the stained-glass windows, streams of light almost mystical.
